The illustrations below showcase a series of deliverables produced as part of the design of a new city.

Private & Public realm

Graphics produced for the “Urban Village”, a primarily residential sector in the JEC masterplan. These drawings aimed to illustrate the relationship between the private and public domains in terms of regulations, but also how they would maintain pedestrian accessibility in application.

Street Controls

Illustrations showing the distinct urban elements of “Al Balad” area, which features a low-speed street with an uninterrupted pedestrian circulation

Illustrating the regulations of the same area, focusing on the continuous street walls and how they should guide the Architectural design in future planning

Multi-modal Platforms

Graphics illustrating different infrastructure typologies: A) a multi-modal platform, linking the large highway to the Metro Station and the Monorail station, for which I produced the landscape design, schematic section and digital sketches. B) a section/ plan composite schematic showing the typical sidewalk treatment on main roads.

High-rise connectivity

Schematic sections showing the relationship between towers, which have been designed to have a continuous podium platform that serves as the public space of the high-rise buildings. The 3D graphics show the advisory public passageways that go across the platforms and provide access to retail spaces.

Building Design Guidelines

Extract from a Building Design Guideline document, produced as a development brief to be handed to Architects. It includes Land use and Regulatory planning specifications, as well as guidelines on design and technical features.

Preliminary Masterplan Studies

The following visuals were part of a two-week workshop in which I supported master plan initiatives that involved developing a group of 10 plots. This involved:

creating a basic 3D model to visualize the massing and skylines
Drafting regulatory plans and sample plot development guidelines, along with schematic sections
Proposing multiple parking solutions following a feasibility analysis

Masterplan stakeholders

A Master Plan has many users and stakeholders, and determining a customer’s typical “day-in-the-life” and adapting the project to their specific needs as they evolve through time. These complex ideas can be illustrated using simple diagrams, such as the one below.
